Quite often when we start on a new diet or gym plan we do it because we are unhappy with how we look and who we are. We look in the mirror and start picking out all the parts we don’t like, even hate. We speak to ourselves in such a horrible way, words that we would never dream of saying to anyone else.
I think its time to try something different.
What you see when you look in the mirror is the results of choices made yesterday, last week, last month even last year. Its done and there is no going back to re-do. Beating yourself up about choices that have already been made and carried out is a little pointless.
However, the future is still waiting to be decided. You have a choice over how things will be.
If you are ‘hating’ on yourself chances are you are going to struggle to make healthy choices – we don’t look after things we don’t respect.
Its important that we realise we want to make changes to our diet, our exercise because we LOVE ourselves and we want the best for us. We deserve to feel happy and we deserve to feel loved and that is what we are now working towards.
Give yourself a timeline, 4 weeks is a good one, long enough to see changes but not too long that it feels impossible to stick to.
Anytime you feel the need to say something nasty to yourself, shift your thoughts to how you will feel in 4 weeks once you have made healthy choices for a consistent amount of time. Focus on how proud you will feel, and the confidence and the happiness that will come after 4 weeks of looking after yourself and treating yourself well.
We don’t diet and exercise because we hate our bodies we do it because we LOVE them and we want them to be in the best condition possible. This attitude will bring far more success.
